Six GBA players in Vic team
It was a proud moment for all involved with Geelong Badminton Academy when the selections for the 2024 Victorian Country team were announced.
The team was revealed following the final Beyond Bank Junior Classic in Geelong on the last Saturday in July.
The six GBA selections are:
Under 19: Sophie Ng
Under 17: Abilashini Palanisamy, Ashwin Bharati, Ko Tipyi Soung, Samantha Jandhi Suico
Under 13: Andrea Wong
They all competed at the Victorian Teams Championships in early August at MSAC.

Member’s prize draw
Congratulations to Mahender Pal Sing, our June Winner! As winner of the monthly Badminton Geelong member’s draw, Mahender has won two hours of free off-peak court hire.
As part of our new and improved Badminton Geelong Member Benefits Program, all members are automatically entered into a monthly draw. Every month, one lucky member will win a mystery prize, and the result will be announced on our social media platforms.

From the Board
Participation across the entire week is increasing as evidenced by increased membership. Our bulk booking offers and off-peak court hire options are proving to be well received. More competitions are being created for members to join. The latest is the Tuesday night competition, which filled up quickly.
Many people give of their time willingly to help Badminton Geelong continue to grow and thrive. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the organisation, even though we have paid staff to perform administration and coaching duties. The Honour Boards on the wall beside court 6 pay tribute to those who take on significant roles within the organisation. They have recently been updated to include current office-bearers.
The remaining two court mats have been sold and money is going towards fundraising as we continue making improvements to the stadium for all members.
Monday Ladies tournament
Badminton Geelong is partnering with Geelong Women’s Badminton Association to bring you a local women’s Badminton Tournament!
We have organised a fun day and are looking forward to seeing you all there. So ladies, put on your game faces and join us in what will be a great event. Details below:

Our new Snowpeak website has gone live at snowpeakshuttles.com.au.
As well as providing shuttles for competition and social sessions, we now a supplier of Snowpeak shuttles.
Sales are being made to other associations and clubs around Australia, who can now simply order their shuttle requirements via the website.

Top coaches put our players through their hectic paces
Geelong Badminton Academy recently hosted a celebration of our best athletes.
The event featured a special appearance from Australian badminton star, Gronya Somerville.
Along with some of the most talented coaches in the country, they held an exclusive coaching session for our players.
